Charlie Garner Every Saturday morning on the Square in Centerville you can hear the sounds of sweet music coming from the Chamber of Commerce office.

The Grinders Switch Hour™ is a partnership between WNKX (KIX 96.7) and the Chamber of Commerce.

The Grinders Switch Hour™ begins at 10:00 AM and ends at 11:00 AM with host Mickey Bunn of KIX 96 radio in Centerville, Tennessee.

The Tradition Continues

The Grinders Switch Hour™ started several years ago under the stewardship of the late Charlie Garner, a member of the Grand Ole Opry and resident of Hickman County.  From its small beginning the show has grown into a regular event each Saturday morning with a standing room only crowd.  It's not just good music or a fun time, it's a place where the musicians and the audience have developed warm bonds.  Charlie posted a sign that said, "Leave your ego at the door."  That's the way he lived.

The Grinders Switch Ensemble Band consists of the following members:

  • Mickey Bunn: Co-Host, Mandolin.
  • Damon Wherry: Lead Guitar
  • James Barnes: Fiddle
  • Darin Cochran: Guitar, Mandolin, and Vocals
  • Terry Peevyhouse: Bass
  • Dee Floid: Steel guitar
  • John Hudspeth: Drums
  • Michael Campbell: Keyboard

Entertainers from a variety of musical backgrounds have performed over the years.  Guest entertainers are featured each week. We have two regular guests that we would like to call our own:

  • Terry Durham: Guitar and Vocals
  • Rick Hines: Guitar and Vocals

See our calendar on our home page for the entertainers coming up on the program.

The show can be heard on the radio at 96.7 (WNKX).  See the live show FREE at 405 West Public Square.  A full house is usually on hand to watch these wonderful shows.

Listen to it on the Internet as it streams live on the net at www.GrindersSwitchHour.com.
