It Pays To Be Local

Shop Local has been a slogan promoted by the Chamber of Commerce for the last couple of years. Why? Because local sales mean local profits. Local sales mean local taxes for schools and essential government services. Local sales support local businesses. It's good business. It's good for our community.

Shop Local: Invest in our Future

The Centerville Elementary school is kicking off a Shop Local: Invest in our Future campaign.

COUNTYWIDE CLEANUP FOCUSED ON HIGHWAY 100

COUNTYWIDE CLEANUP FOCUSED ON HIGHWAY 100

Volunteers are welcome to join the chamber's Countywide Clean-Up Project on Saturday, April 12, when Highway 100 from Primm Springs Road through East Hickman "as far as we can get" will be patrolled beginning at 8 a.m.

Project chair Rob Mitchell said he is hoping for a group that matches the size of the Spring 2013 project, when 98 people participated.

Volunteers may gather at the rear entrance of Hickman County High, where the Junior ROTC-annually, the bulk of the workforce-will board a bus. Bags, gloves and drinking water will be provided.

At the same time, Mitchell said, a church group will pick up litter on Brown Hollow Road between Primm Springs Road and Highway 7.

Rescue Squad and other emergency vehicles will provide safety warnings for motorist, who are urged to slow down in areas where work is occuring, Mitchell said.

A lunch for volunteers at Pizza Junction will follow.
